6.6.06

i'm still working at it. the cellblocks/corridors section in the reading jail is finished. almost
there, thank god. this is taking forever.

oh, yeah: i will be doing a fairly major article update soon also (like: changing the main
page's text! finally!). stick with me folks. it doesn't look like much right away but the jail
gallery should be the most comprehensive and hopefully in indicator of how i will do the
site in the future.

5.29.06

the reading jail gallery is even closer to completion. the attic, execution chamber, and
first floor offices/cells galleries are open. just the most difficult three to go: the cell blocks,
the basement, and then the guided tour.

5.28.06

added a gallery index. also have reading jail gallery underway. the exteriors and
warden's quarters subsections are now complete.

5.25.06

i have installed five additions in the articles section. several are quotations that i feel
match the mood of the picture. i will continue to add more in, but this took me quite some
time actually.
in addition, during the last two days i have (very) painstakingly gone to each gallery page
and added a border to all the pics to make them stand out better. exciting world i live in,
eh?on top of that, i fixed links, changed the background of the shartlesville gallery to
make the pics more visible, and several other things that you would think would be very
simple and quick to do, but aren't.
i will keep on adding.

5.20.06

after taking a week off (i desperately needed the R&R and went on a few photo shoots as
well) i'm back in effect. tonight i streamlined the menu system and added in a new section
for
articles. some of the things there you may have read before, some you may not
have, but i will be updating this section fairly regularly. i also redid the contact info page
and added a brief bio of how i came to do the work i do. actually, i made a pretty large
number of tweaks and adjustments, though the galleries are pretty much the same. enjoy!

5.9.06

i've added to the b&w/color gallery choices and added some titles here and there. this is
taking quite a while but it's nice to feel like i'm making progress at least, which is probably
why this is so addictive i spend all my time on it. the lancaster showing was pretty slow
due to everyone being at the cinqo de mayo festivities (and art walk happening two
weeks ago! raar!) - but it's a start at least, and a lot of friends/family stopped by, which i
really appreciated. thanks, guys. i love ya.

oh, yeah, as you can see, i'm updating these main pages to give them a little more zazz.
hope you like.

5.5.06

well, i will see those of you who come at the gallery tonight - i've also done some small
updates - i am hoping to make certain pictures so that you can choose b&w or color, and
now the fostoria, clarktown, and shartlesville have a few of those. it's pretty neat, actually
- you move your mouse over the image and that makes it b&w, you move it off and it's
color again. it's magic! wish me luck tonight!

5.4.06

i stayed up all night and finished the
clarktown gallery and made several of the older
galleries display pictures larger. i also did menu tweaks, added a note to property
owners, and more things that aren't that interesting to talk about but make the site nicer.
only one more gallery, haverford (which i will probably change, now that i think of it, to the
donnersburg tb ward), and the first goal of putting 12 galleries up is complete. after that i
go on to writing small articles to go with the galleries - the history of athens is first up.
check back soon! thanks for stopping by. i will be at square one tomorrow evening if you
care to stop by.

5.1.06

shartlesville is complete. i am almost done with the main galleries and am once they are
finished will be concentrating on the addition of histories, articles, and a site index. i am
exhausted.

4.28.06

fostoria is up. it's hard looking at the older photo shoots i went on because they just don't
seem that good... so i hope you'll be kind. there are a few i really like in there, but for the
most part they make me cringe - that's why you're only seeing less than 1/20th of the
photos i took there (same with several of the other galleries). oh well. when i get done
with the sites i have listed in the galleries i can move on to some of the newer ones i've
taken (i have a LOT of sites that aren't even listed as coming soon), and i'm more
comfortable with them - raybestos is an example. in the meanwhile, hopefully you'll
forgive the rough edges on some of the galleries; this is a learning experience. not all
photos are up because i think they're so artistically wonderful that everyone will want to
buy them. some of them are up just to memorialize the building; in fostoria's case, the
factory has already been torn down, and this is all that is left. sorry, fostoria. wish i was
better at photography when i visited you. well, only three more galleries to publish, then
i'll research a bit so i can put up an intro page for each telling a bit about the buildings as
best i'm able. i hope you'll be able to see that this site has a long way to go before it gets
to where i want it to be, and that you'll be able to enjoy it for what it is now. a big thanks
to all who have given their support and feedback so far.

4.26.06

ok, did some more tweaks, mainly making some gallery pages look a little better.
mount
cameron
's background is hopefully a little more subdued now and chambersburg...
well, that gallery page is still mediocre, but i'm working on it.

all in all, it's been one of those nights where i spend two hours working on stuff that
people will probably never notice. polishing, i guess you might say. only four more
galleries to go, and then i take a break! and after that, the writing starts to go up...

4.25.06

wow, i thought
mayflower state took a long time! raybestos is by far the largest gallery
here (don't even try to get through it in a sitting) - it's finally up though! 14 pages of
thumbnails alone - probably about 100 pictures. i'm exhausted.

4.23.06

finally, after 8 hours,
mayflower state is finished. it's a little daunting to think that it took
me so long, and that
raybestos is likely to be twice the size. anyway, i have tweaked
several small details on the site, added the mission statement, and am working steadily at
making sure all available galleries are up, after which i will of course be adding more
(many, many more). in any case, the
chambersburg gallery is finished also, but i am
having problems publishing it, so as soon as i get that figured out, it's up.

if you're even reading this: please email me with feedback. it is impossible when putting
this much work into a site to look at it objectively or to test every link. i do the best i can
but i desperately need feedback about, well, whatever is wrong with my site. be creative!

one more thing: got
chambersburg up and figured out the problem... which means i
have to update EVERY page in my website. dammit. but at least it's there now.

4.17.06

welcome, my friends from soa! thank you so much for coming by. if you poke around
a bit, you'll see i have much yet to do. however, i do have five galleries up - they are:

hospitals:         athens
                        mt. cameron tb ward
industrial:        astorville quarry

                        fincher
houses:            rt. 2 irregularities

oh, there's so much more to do - galleries to add, and about a zillion ideas i'm working on
- guided tours, the histories of the sites, links, a guestbook, a forum, and a few
others i'm keeping under wraps for now.
the site is officially 'open' in May but it's
going to be a work in progress, so i will no doubt be adding more (and more and more
and more) to it as the months go on.

i am honored that you have come. please make yourself at home, and feel free to use my
contact info (on the right) to say hello, let me know about problems on the site,
suggestions, etc. if you get a chance. in fact,
i really would like to hear any
problems/criticisms
you have with the site, because right now i need feedback badly
on how to improve it before opening.

oh, yeah, and if for some crazy reason you want to have a copy of any of these prints,
there is a link to buy a 8x11 print beneath each photo, which will take you through
paypal.

you all are wonderful! thanks for everything!

4.13.06

three galleries are now up and running. more to come soon!

active galleries:
- Fincher Inc. (industrial) - finished for now.

- Astorville Quarry (industrial) - finished for now

- Athens State Hospital (asylum) - finished for now

thanks for the visit!

04.10.06

ok, here goes: all the links to the left that are highlighted should be up and running... did
a lot of trouble shooting and layout related work...

the galleries for Athens and Astorville Quarry are now complete. you still can't go to
larger views of the pictures yet but i'm working on it. should be adding Pilgrim State next.
keep checking back to see what's new. i've only just begun to get this site going and
have a lot of ideas that i will hopefully implement before the 'official' launch in May.
thanks for all of your help and support; if you find any problems or glitches please let me
know!

04.08.06   9:41 a.m.

yes, the page is coming along...

added: thanks to, disclaimer, purchase info, showings, news. tweaked the houses and
barns hub page, got rid of the annoying letters on this page...

and the thumbnails gallery for Athens State Hospital, under Asylums/Hospitals, is set up.

you can't click on a larger view yet. i need to add a little watermark to my pictures (so no
one steals them, i hope) and then resize them... so much work!

but at least it's getting done. this project may never be finished but it's nice to see
something happening.

04.05.06     8.02 pm

as you may be able to tell, i've been quite hard at work on the site. there is still much left
to do before the May 'opening' of the site, but you can rest assured i am doing
everything possible to make this as polished as can be. so far, there's not a lot up yet.
the gallery index pages for the asylums, industrial sites, and houses are there but don't
lead to anything yet. this page and the disclaimer page are also up and running. i have
yet to get the individual galleries or pictures up, nor do i have any ordering info out there
yet. i hope you'll be patient as i do my best to get this presentable, and give me any
thoughts or ideas you have, particularly concerning problems with the site.

well, there's much yet to do, but i will post my progress here so you can see at a glance
what i have added. wish me luck, everyone.

PS - If you see a link on the right is underlined, it means you can go there.
