| there was a strange serenity in the way he sat there, unmoved despite the impending thunderclouds. even in the face of all the things to come he did not blink or flinch, and though he knew of the coming disaster his resolve only seemed to grow stronger and deeper, as though he fed on the turmoil that left others wringing their hands in despair. his eyes appeared to be focused inwards, and an unnatural glow emanated from him and enveloped those who saw him with a fleeting sense of peace. there was a strange serenity in the way he sat there. i would find my thoughts drifting back to it many times as everything began to completely fall apart. |
